                                         KPMP: a family business with a tradition of family values

Kustom Precision Machine Products is a  family company that was founded in 1968 by Anatoly Kuhn Sr., in Oreland, PA., a suburb of Philadelphia. Later, the company moved to its present facility in nearby Horsham, PA.

From the beginning, KPMP was a job shop, pure and simple. Anatoly Kuhn, a machinist with over 50 years of experience, also had a simple idea. He wanted to provide an environment where customers could outsource their machining needs and feel confident that the assigned project would be handled promptly, efficiently and at a reasonable cost.

In his experience, the one thing that most machine shops lacked was good communications. In too many cases, he felt, shop owners were detached from their customers. The result was a communications barrier that too often got in the way of job performance. He set about to avoid that kind of problem. Improving communications meant, however, that a customer had to have ready access to the shop's technical  personnel. And that meant no matter how well the company prospered, there could be no layers of  management personnel to come between customer and hands-on craftsman. And that also meant that KPMP could never be a corporate megalith but always a family business. That was fine with Anatoly Kuhn. On any day, he would rather talk about milling, turning, RAs, tolerances and the properties of Inconel rather than ledgers, receivables, ROIs and profit margins  

That's how KPMP started and that's how it's been to this day. KPMP was-- and still is-- a  family business that adheres strictly to a tradition of family service.
